Akagera NP is the only savanna national park in Rwanda and it is the only area to find all the big 5 game in a single habitat (cape buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, and rhinos).
Akagera National Park is located in Eastern Rwanda and takes 2.5 hours to get there for your wildlife viewing tour. This is one of the oldest African parks, established in 1934, and occupies a land area of 1122sq.km making it Rwanda’s largest park.

Day One: Travel by road to Akagera N. Park (Eastern circuit)
A warm welcome into Rwanda (the Land of a Thousand Hills), get briefed by your tour leader. After the briefing session, leave the hotel for a 2 hour city tour in Kigali and expect to explore the Kigali memorial center, craft centers and Kimironko market, etc. 3 Days Akagera National Park Safari, Lunch break will be made and your driver will take you to one of the best restaurants or hotels. After lunch session, set off for Akagera National Park in the Eastern Province lying close to Rwanda’s border with Tanzania.

Day Two: Game drive & Lake Ihema boat cruise
Depart the lodge early for your morning session through the savannas of Akagera National Park. In a classic 4×4 safari vehicle with pop up roof, get clear views of Akagera’s diverse wildlife including the Maasai giraffes, rhinos, lions, zebras, topis, cape buffaloes, elephants, leopards, roan antelopes, and warthogs.
Many birds will also be spotted and after, drive back for lunch in the lodge. Later in the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise excursion along Lake Ihema. This will expose you to diverse aquatic life such as hippos, crocodiles and birds like bee-eaters, kingfishers, fish eagles, and more.

Day Three: Game drive & Depart for Kigali
