The shoebill stork is a large bird that can grow up to 1.5 meters in height and has a unique appearance, with a large bill that resembles a shoe. Detailed itinerary

Pick up and transfer to Mabamba Swamp

You will be picked    up from your hotel/airport early in the morning after breakfast and be driven to Mabamba Swamp. Upon arrival at Mabamba Swamp, you’ll meet your local birding guide who will take you on a canoe ride through the swamp to search for the elusive shoebill stork and other bird species. The canoe ride takes about two hours, and your guide will point out various bird species along the way. Tourists can also engage in fishing activities when on the canoe ride because the wetland is also home to various fish species.

 

Lunch break

After the canoe ride, you’ll have lunch at a nearby Nkima lodge restaurant or picnic area.

Nature Walk

After lunch, you will take a guided nature walk around the swamp to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the area. This may extend to the Nkima forest. You can also engage with the local people who live and work from around the wetland and also buy their produce in the form of souvenirs.

 

Return to Kampala

After the nature walk, you’ll return to Kampala.
