Hospitable people

Uganda is a landlocked country that lies within the interior of East Africa. This country has an estimated population of 45 million people and was rated by BBC (in 2017) to have the world’s most hospitable people.  Furthermore, this beautiful safari destination hosts a diverse ethnicity in Uganda which means that tourists get to explore various cultures during their adventure.

Africa’s largest fresh water

Also known as the Pearl of Africa, Uganda hosts Africa’s largest fresh water lake known as Lake Victoria, which is the source of the world’s longest river, River Nile. This river further forms several features, including cliffs and waterfalls, making it an exciting tourist attraction to visit. Rapids at the source of the Nile are great for world-class rafting.

Conducive climate

The wonderful weather and tropical climate in Uganda is one of the reasons as to why it is a perfect destination for your safari. The country experiences two rainy seasons every one, March to May and September to December. The Northern region, however, lies outside the tropical belt, and hence experiences only one rainy season, March to October.

The big wildlife, over 15 primate species, a huge concentration of antelopes, the highest records of bird species, zebras, giraffes, warthogs and much more are expected on a safari adventure in Uganda.

When to go for a safari adventure in Uganda?

The dry weather is most recommended when travelling for a safari in Uganda. The dry/sunny weather is characterised by limited rainfall, and grasses tend to be shorter for a perfect view of wildlife. Adventures like game drives, nature walks, mountain climbing, gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, and primate walks are best done during the dry months. In Uganda, the dry/sunny months are experienced from December to February and June to September.

In the rainy months of March to May and October to November, roads are always slippery, and the forests are moist and wet. These are hard to travel in months; grasses in savannah parks are taller, making it difficult to watch some camouflage animals.

The terrain of Uganda

Uganda’s natural range is as low as 621 at the Albert-Nile Delta in Murchison Falls National Park, and the highest point is Margherita Peak on Mt. Stanly range on Mt. Rwenzori. Uganda is positioned in the corridor between the Western and the Eastern Rifts. This gives the country a set of topography that varies from the northeastern flat plateau, relatively sloping terrain and the steep slopes along the Albertine rift.

Uganda accommodates Africa’s 3rd and 4th highest peaks of Margherita and Wagagai, respectively. Uganda has amazing mountains that propose the finest hiking challenges on the continent. Among these are Mt. Rewnzori, Mt. Elgon, and the Virunga Volcanic chains of Sabinyo, Muhavura, and Gahinga mountains.

Gorilla trekking adventure

The forest drama of walking through the impenetrable in search of the rare and endangered species. Mountain gorillas in Uganda are endemic to the forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Trekking gorillas is a lifetime experience; approaching these unique species leads close human closest relatives who share almost 98% of human DNA. Mountain gorillas are fully habituated to being familiar with human presence, enabling a close-up encounter with apes. Gorilla trekking highlights the rest of the adventures in Africa, and finding yourself is an amazing encounter.

Chimpanzee Tracking

Uganda offers the best opportunity to track chimpanzees in their natural environment. Chimpanzees are fully habituated for a thrilling adventure on your safaris adventures. The best up-close with the chimpanzees in the wildness and various trekking destinations, including the most known Kibale National Park. Chimpanzee tracking activity is sometimes an alternative to those trackers who can’t afford the luxury gorilla permits.

Mountain climbing

East Africa’s most challenging and entertaining climbing experiences. Various hiking trails lead to Africa’s 3rd and 4th highest points and other amazing courses. The longest climbing trail lasts seven days to the summit of the snowcapped Margherita peak on Mt. Rwenzori. The different trails range from hours to 7 days, Africa’s best tracks of all time. Among the famous hiking spots are Rwenzori, Elgon, Moroto, Muhavura, Gahinga, Sabinyo and many other mountains and hills spread across the country.

Wildlife game drive

Uganda is hallowed with several natural habitats, home to several wildlife species. Amazing flora and fauna have set Uganda an amazing tourist destination in Africa. White water rafting

One of Africa’s amazing adventures is taking a rafting adventure. The source of the Nile in Jinja is the perfect place where rapids lead to world-class rafting to the IV and V grades. Rafting at the source of the Nile doesn’t need any level of fitness and experience. Training and orientation are given to first-timers while rafting on the slower rapids of grades II and III before deciding to take the advanced level. At the source of the Nile, rafting is accompanied by bungee jumping, zip lining, and horse riding.

Cultural adventures
