Detailed Itinerary for 15 Days Uganda Luxury Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Early Trails Expedition. The representative will provide a brief orientation before transferring you to your lodge for a detailed briefing, allowing you to rest and recharge after a long journey.

Day 2: Fly to Kisoro airstrip and Visit the Batwa people

Today, you will embark on a journey to the heart of Southwestern Uganda with a scheduled domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro Airstrip. After a one- or two-hour flight, you will meet your driver, who will take you on an adventure with the Batwa people. These indigenous people have a rich cultural heritage and are deeply connected to the gorilla conservation efforts in the area. You will be treated to fascinating stories and dances from the Batwa people before embarking on a scenic drive to your lodge at the Nkuringo sector.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking

Today, you will embark on a thrilling adventure through the rolling hills, valleys, and hikes to search for magnificent mountain gorillas. This is the most anticipated activity on your African adventure, as gorilla trekking is considered a treasured experience, with permits costing up to $700. The trek starts at 8 am and lasts two to eight hours before you meet your assigned gorilla group. Finally, encountering the gorillas in their natural habitat is a lifetime moment that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the wild. After your encounter, you will return to your lodge for refreshments and relaxation for the rest of the day.

Day 4: Spend a Day at Lake Bunyonyi

Drive to Lake Bunyonyi, and spend the day here. Take a boat ride to one of the islands, and return and stay relaxed at your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

You will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park this morning and pass via the Ishasha sector. Upon reaching Ishasha, you must refresh and go through the open savannah plains, awarded views of pride, lousily relaxed under dotted acacia trees. You will encounter diverse wildlife along the drive from various tracks, mainly the tree-climbing lions. After a campaign, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

With your packed breakfast today, you will drive to the Kasenyi sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for an incredible game drive. This will be a rewarding experience with various wildlife species, including; elephants, Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, buffalos, lions, and warthogs, among so many species to watch, accompanied by several bird species.

In the afternoon, with lunch en route, you will drive to the Mweya peninsular for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. The wild boat cruise is an opening to watch more animals, such as elephants, hippos and others. Lastly, could you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight?

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park and Visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

This morning, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park, which is about a 3-hour drive. Reaching the park, you will visit the Bigodi wetland sanctuary to track various primate species. The Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary accommodates about 13 primate species and is a perfect tracking site. Besides primate views, the Bigodi walk rewards a traveller with pictures of various bird species and forest animals. Afterwards, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Habituation

Be energised with the morning break; you’re heading for an energy walk. On your arrival at Kanyachu, the briefing and starting point for the day track, you will be briefed and grouped and assigned to a community of chimpanzees undergoing habituation. Chimpanzee habituation is a full-day adventure where travellers head into the forest, search and follow the chimpanzees. Trackers must spend about 4 hours with the apes when the chimpanzees are found. The chimpanzee habituation adventure is more than just a track but a full day spent with the apes. The habituation process is aimed at making the chimps used to human presence.

Day 9: Akira Alira Adventure Park

Today make it a one-point to stay within Fort Port and visit the Akira Alira adventure park. This adventure park is a newly built tourist destination that offers exclusive accommodation alongside several adventures. Among the adventures to engage in at Akira Alira Adventure Park include; Wall climbing, Obstacle Course, Zip lining, Land sailing, Swimming, and Mini golf. Day 10: Crater Lake Hike and Fly to Murchison Falls National Park

Driving to Crater Lake West of Fort Portal, the Crater Lake hike is a fantastic encounter for adventurous travellers. The hike takes about 2-3 hours to the summit of the Crater Lake. Afterwards, you will return to Kasese and take a chartered flight to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 11: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

This bright day is with a game drive in the Northern section of Murchison Falls National Park. The Murchison game drive is among Uganda’s adventure rewards, with many expectations being fulfilled. On a good day, you will watch leopards around the Pakuba tracks, elephants, buffalos, and many others. Expect animals like towers of giraffes, Jackson hartebeest, Uganda Kobs, Hippos, bushbuck, waterbucks, duikers, etc. and several bird species that can be encountered up to the animals’ centre, the Delta Point. After about 3 hours of driving through the park, you will return to your lodge and refresh with lunch.

Game drive in Murchison Falls National Park

In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of Murchison Falls. The Murchison Falls are arguably the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Imagine rapids forcing their way into a gorge 7m wider and pouring 45m down to form a thunderous roar. The drive is impressive, with many sights, including a cliff, various vegetation, and several animals seen at the bank of the river, among others. The boat cruise lasts about three hours, and then you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Sports Fishing and Hiking the Top of the Falls

Just to let you know, a guide will accompany you on a small motorboat to the fishing grounds. If you don’t have any equipment, UWA staff can provide some for hire. The guide will take you on a private speedboat ride, either along the Victoria Nile or around the delta, to catch Nile perch. Fishing can last about 3-5hours hours, and it’s a fun catch-and-release adventure. The main catch is Tilapia. After lunch, you will hike to the top of the falls.

After your fishing session, you will proceed to the top of Murchison Falls. The hike to the top of the falls is about a 45-minute walk depending on your strength, and it’s a scenic route with beautiful views of the Nile River. As you approach the falls, you’ll hear the thunderous sound of the water as it cascades down the rocky cliffs, creating a mist that rises and blankets the surrounding area. Once you reach the top of the falls, you’ll have a stunning view of the Nile River as it plummets 43 meters into the gorge below. This is an excellent spot for taking photos, so bring your camera!

Day 13: Transfer to Kampala, en route to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After a few days of incredible wildlife encounters in Uganda’s Murchison and Kidepo National Parks, it’s time to start your journey back to Kampala. But before you leave, there’s one more exciting stop – the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Located in Nakasongola District, about 180km north of Kampala, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can see white rhinos. The sanctuary is home to over 25 Southern White Rhinos reintroduced into the country after the species were wiped out during the civil wars of the 1970s and 80s.

Day 14: Transfer to Jinja, the source of the Nile

Today, you will transfer to Jinja, the next biggest city Eastwards from Kampala. You will consider a stopover at Mabira Forest; it’s a relaxed and authentic nature walk to embark on. You will then proceed to the source of the Nile and later transfer to Kangulumira for a night.

Day 15: Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for flight back home

On this day, you will wake up at leisure and transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home. Our driver guide will say goodbye to you on behalf of Early Trials Expedition Uganda. Then, you will take your flight back to your home. After this trip, you will become our next ambassador for Early Trails Expeditions Uganda in your country and area. Thank you!
