Day 4: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park (Game drive & boat cruise)

I want to give you some advice you drive with your morning breakfast to the Kasenyi section of the park for a game drive. This is done early, at 6 am, such that you set your breakfast under the arrays of sunrise. Then continue with a rewarding game drive through the stunning green savannah. Over 100 hundred Uganda Kobs will be welcome at their mating ground in Kasenyi. This drive connects to the real wild adventure while driving through various trucks. Expect to find herds of antelopes, buffalos, elephants, lions, leopards, and warthogs, among many other animals that call Queen Elizabeth, particularly the Kasenyi section, their home. Alongside countless bird species, this park is home to over 600.

Following the game drive, you can consider lunch refreshments at your lodge, then drive to Mweya Peninsular for a wild boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga Channel is a fantastic water channel jewelled with stunning golden landscapes. The water channel connects two lakes, Lake Gorge and Lake Edward. A boat cruise here exposes great wild amusements and sceneries. The encounters include a school of hippos, monitor lizards, crocodiles, and water and land bird species. Larger herds of elephants, buffalos, and antelopes are always a scene at the banks of the water channel. After about 2 to 3 hours, the boat cruise will be done, then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Mid-range: Kasenyi Safari Camp

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Following your relaxed, served, delicious breakfast, you will embark on your drive and transfer to Kibale National Park northwards through Kasese town. It’s about 2 hours drive, but you should en route to Fort Portal city and drive to Amabere caves and explore the remarkable stories of the Bachwezi dynasty. Then, later with lunch en route will go to Kibale National Park for dinner and overnight.

Luxury: Chimpundu Lodge

Mid-range: Primate Lodge

Day 6: Track Chimpanzees

Following the served early morning breakfast, we will hurry to Kanyachu’s starting point for a tracking etiquette briefing. After being grouped will be led by an armed ranger guide to roll into the thick forest and start searching for the habituated chimpanzees. The track can last 30 minutes to about 2 hours to find your assigned group while walking and finding your path through the thick and impassable tropics. It’s a bit tiresome to track chimpanzees; however, finding the species, you forget all the hurdles passed through.

It’s a lifetime moment finding these half-man species, and here you find out that they imitate almost all human characters—strictly one full hour before the species and after you walk back to the starting point. You are exhausted and need to relax; I will drive to your lodge and refresh with lunch. Then in the afternoon, hours will visit the Bigodi community to understand the lifestyle of people living around the park. On a visit, you can even buy souvenirs and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala

Today following your relaxed served breakfast, transfer back to Kampala; it’s about 5 hours of driving. However, we can consider a cultural en route at Walumbe e Tanda in Mityana. It’s believed to be where the first Muganda person lived and was followed by a brother-law called Walumbe, who turned into a spirit of death. You will be surprised by the mass of people you can find around doing traditional worshipping. I hope you buy sandals before reaching the area, as no one is allowed to walk around the room in shoes. Let’s call it a barefoot walk. Then with lunch en route, you will continue to Kampala or even use the Entebbe Express, provided you’re flying back this day.
